I installed Win98 in virtualbox, and have SciTech display doctor and Rain 2.0. I couldn't figure out what display to use for SciTech, so I picked one of the standards closest to my screen's resolution (although not a perfect match).

I made this switch after Windows was installed and had to use the "Find New Hardware" Wizard. Ironically, in all my years of using Windows that **** thing never worked, but this time it miraculously did exactly what it was supposed to. I feel as though my life is now complete.- One other note is that you have to make sure you turn OFF the VT-x/AMD-V on VirtualBox as well.Hope someone finds this useful! This thread is the #1 hit on google for "OSX simtower" so I think it was worth reviving the thread and posting a solution, even if it is a few years later.Virtualbox Win98 SimTower Problems. (and solution for getting files into your VM)I made an account just to post this, and I'm very ADD so you can smell the desperation. Please somebody help me!Thanks so much to michaelandrews for the suggestion to use Virtualbox with Win98se to play SimTower!! I love this game and missed it horribly, and even though it took me literally days of hours upon hours of work to get Windows 98 running in Virtualbox (I am not at all VM savvy), when I finally got SimTower to open it was like winning the lottery.

It's broken. What the problem is, is that the mouse goes crazy every time I'm in the game. SimTower is a great game, got it back when it was new. it's a fairly simple game, much easier to win than a SimCity game and with less depth, but it is pretty good.

Download otvdm-for-old-windows-v0.8.1.zip (ReactOS, and Windows versions before Vista and Server 2008) closed issues closed Program Musinum proclaims 'Out of memory' when trying to open it. it is a bit too easy to get a 100-floor, 5-star tower with chapel on top, though.

Hi Guys, I have this very old game known as SimTower from the Maxis company and it used to run on my Windows 7 but now that I have gotten a new computer with the Win 8 OS, it wont run anymore. In SimCity games I've done terribly a lot, frequently running out of money and losing (particularly from SC2k on), but in SimTower losing isn't nearly as easy. The limitations, particularly the limited numbers of elevators, stairways, and escalators, got very frustrating. why can't I just put stairways and escalators everywhere I want them? Instead I keep having to delete them and can only have a bare minimum of them, despite how big a boost to travel they are. Hopefully the newer ones like Yoot Tower improved on limitations like those? I only have the original.

Game seems to run OK, with full sound effects and music. The graphics are nice though, with lots of nice animations, and there's some depth in setting prices and positioning everything well for people to actually move into the storefronts and pay your rents, and being able to see all the people going around is fun. It is a pretty good game, despite my complaints. last time I tried to run it in Vista, the game worked, but no matter what I did, I couldn't get the sound and music working. the sound and music are great, and are a big part of the game really! They do work fine on my older computers, though, so it's not that bad.

Install dosbox 0.72 and win3.x in it or: VPC + W3.x, W95 or W98. Because the water buildings don't create pollution of their own, you can stick them in the middle of town without a problem. But it would be great to be able to play it with sound on this computer. That is, as long as your water tower is in a clean place, you'll have clean water, even if it has to pass through industrial zones or other heavy polluters. What mainly matters here is where the pumping building (either a Water Tower or Water Pumping Station) is located, not where the pipes are located. You'll also want to take ground pollution into account. If your city goes for many years, or if you place your buildings on some of the shallower parts of the water table, you may have to replace it eventually. You'll want to place your buildings over the deeper blue areas, as these will give you the most output and last the longest. By opening the water buildings tool in the tool bar, the map will change to show you the entire water table. The water table is not a one-amount-only type of deal, however. Your Sims need fresh water sources, and luckily there is a water table directly underneath your city borders.
